Emma attended the University of Brighton to complete a degree in History and Philosophy. She then completed the graduate law conversion qualification and received a distinction in the legal practice certificate at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. During this final year, Emma was recognised with the student of the year award.
Emma embarked on her law career in a regional high street firm starting as a paralegal and being quickly offered a training contract. Emma moved to Suffolk five years ago in which time she was working in the Commercial Property team at a regional Legal 500 law firm.
Emma joined Smith & Co Solicitors as Head of Commercial Property in November 2020. She is experienced in all areas of commercial property law, with a particular specialism in investment properties with focus on Self Invested Pension Plans (SIPP) and Small Self Administered Scheme (SSAS) pensions. She also has a special interest in law relating to development sites.

Emma lives locally and considers Ipswich her home, although has family in Norfolk and takes advantages of the beaches whenever she can. Time outside of the office is spent with her children and animals, which include two dogs and a rescue cat who adopted Emma. She enjoys long countryside walks and playing an active part in her community.
